1. European Paediatric Advanced Life Support (EPALS)

The European Paediatric Advanced Life Support course has been developed to equip healthcare professionals that have primary responsibility for the care of critically ill or injured children with the latest evidence-based techniques in paediatric resuscitation. The course covers recognition and management of respiratory and circulatory failures and paediatric cardiac arrest.

This course will help in developing skills required for assessment of critically ill children making use of the ABCDE approach, delivering standardised CPR in children, managing deteriorating patients and emergency scenarios and for critical decision making in paediatric emergencies.

The course is ideal for paediatricians and doctors in emergency medicine, paediatric and emergency nurses, paramedics and allied health professionals and educators and supervisors teaching or overseeing paediatric resuscitation training.

2. Paediatric Immediate Life Support (PILS)

The Paediatric Immediate Life Support course is designed for healthcare professionals who are the first to respond to a deteriorating or critically ill child. This course focusses on the early recognition and immediate management of paediatric emergencies to prevent further deterioration and cardiac arrest.

Our course covers assessment of the patient making use of a structured approach, basic airway and breathing management, recognition of respiratory and circulatory failure and initial resuscitation measures. Emphasis will be given to timely intervention, effective communication and escalation of care when required.

This course is suitable for doctors, nurses, paramedics and allied health professionals who work in paediatric wards, emergency departments, acute care settings or community healthcare involved in the early management of paediatric emergencies.

3. Immediate Life Support (ILS)

The Immediate Life Support course is designed for healthcare professionals who may be the first responders in an emergency or when a patient suffers a cardiac arrest. It focusses on early recognition and management of medical emergencies until further help is available.

This includes assessing a patient by making use of a structured approach, airway and breathing management, recognising a cardiac arrest and initiating CPR, effective use of defibrillation and team-based response during emergencies.

The ILS course is suitable for doctors working in hospitals or community settings, nurses involved in acute or ward-based care, paramedics and allied health professionals and clinical staff who are expected to participate in resuscitation or emergency response teams.
